Cool white is more commonly used within bathrooms as it produces a more natural light.

What size LED downlights do I need?

The most common size downlights is 90mm and has many benefits. This will depend however, on whether you are replacing existing downlights in existing holes or starting afresh.

Do LED lights get hot enough to start a fire?

Yes, we would highly recommend any downlights used in a ceiling hold an IC-4 rating. Any downlights not holding this rating should certainly not be near or touching your roof insulation.

How close can an LED Downlight be to a joist?

This depends on the specifications of your downlight, as a general rule however downlights should not be abutting ceiling joist. Downlights with IC-4 have more tolerance in this regard.

Can downlights cause fires?

Yes, there are many scenarios with downlights can start a fire. To minimise this risk we highly recommend the selection of IC-4 rated downlights. We specify such downlights on all jobs.
