Builders temporary supply poles are used on construction sites to supply tradesmen with power through the duration of a new build. The old extension lead across the neighbours fence doesn’t cut it with WorkSafe anymore, and the cost of running a generator are astronomical. As such reliable supply is important for keeping your construction project on time and on budget. While the builders pole itself is pretty mundane the red tape and setup is less so. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got as much lead time as possible to avoid having to wait for the power authority to connect as your job continues along without power. You’ll also want to ensure whoever you’re engaging to supply your pole is going to manage the connection process too as this is a tricky process and will add further cost.

There’s not too much variation when it comes to the builder supply poles themselves. You want to know much much clearance you need from the ground to the overhead mains cable. If you’re nearby a fence or need the mains to cross the street you might need a pole that is a fraction taller. You’ll also want to consider what you’re needing to power. Many builders pole will have a rather small capacity and only cater to standard 10a plugs, if you’re needing 15 or 20 amp welders powered or requiring 3-Phase power you’ll need to specify this to the supplier of your temporary power pole.
